The video above is an excerpt from a solo jazz guitar composition that I have been composing this past week. I did record a longer portion of it today, but after listening for a bit I decided to make a small change to the last four bars [which I then omitted from the recording]. I will swing back soon with an updated recording!
What Is Solo Jazz Guitar?
For anyone who might not be familiar with solo jazz guitar [or solo guitar in general], one of the goals [for the composer / player] is to hear an entire ensemble in his/her mind and then play bits and pieces of what they are hearing so that the listener hears more than one layer of music coming from one single instrument. It is quite a different experience for both player and listener - and, it is a worthwhile study for any musician!
