Short Version: I figured out how to make learning jazz much simpler and easier than I ever thought possible. And, I am willing to teach this method regardless of which instrument a student plays [see video above]!
Slightly More Thorough Version:
I have recently uncovered a unique musical approach that, for me, finally demystifies jazz. I wanted to experience the kind of jazz where you get to be creative instead of just copy, although copying definitely has its place. For many years, I had been searching for 'nth degree' of 'much needed simplicity' and then I finally found it, or it found me!
Now that I have uncovered this ‘night and day’ difference for myself, one of my main goals is to share this simple 'jazz demystified' approach with other students of jazz [regardless of instrument] who might be feeling stuck in a world of 'total-jazz-frustration' that I know all too well!
With all of that said, when it comes to jazz, even though I have been teaching music for almost thirty years, including virtual lessons, I am still very much a beginner. However, now I have become a beginner with a musical secret in hand, and that feels completely different. If I can learn to do it, I bet that you can learn to do it! It's time to explore!
From The Video:
Jazz becomes much easier to understand when we learn, play &
analyze special etudes I created that have just a single chord.
Clear understandings & natural abilities that develop are then quite simple & easy
for us to apply to standard jazz chord progressions!
Virtual Lessons: I have been teaching music lessons for almost thirty years. Guitar, saxophone, hand percussion, bass, and piano are all instruments that I have taught in the past. With that said, and with this 'jazz demystified' approach in hand, I bet that we can make something productive happen!
That's It: With this approach, we start simple and then keep it simple! The 'work that needs to be put in' is simply 'fun work' right from the start!
