Nate's 'Back-Porch Stomp-Box' Back-To-The-Basics Guitar Lessons & More!
The Joy & Wisdom Of Getting ‘Back To The Basics’
The way I landed on ‘Back-Porch Stomp-Box Guitar’ was simply by wanting to experience a true ‘back to the basics’ fresh start.
I decided to return to the mindset of a ‘complete beginner’ guitarist again and do so with a’ much more informed’ aim to answer the following question: “What is the simplest possible formula for how to simply have fun while making music?”
Check Out Just How Simple & Barebones This Kind Of Musical Fun Really Can Be:
‘Three Basic Elements’ That Pros Use, Are A Ton Of Fun & That ‘Make All The Difference’
It then dawned upon me that, regardless of music style, there are just ‘three basic elements’ that beginner and intermediate level musicians need to focus upon in order to ensure a proper musical education. With that in mind, I thought “Why don’t I just go ahead and use the same three elements to create very simple arrangements of a bunch of songs and then just sit on the back porch, tap my foot and jam?”
Well, it might come as ‘no surprise’ that ‘keeping it simple’ is not just a smart way for beginner and intermediate level guitarists to learn, it’s also one of the most rewarding ways for anyone to experience the pure joy of music making.
When we focus upon the ‘three basic elements’, and practice with this focus clearly in mind, we then become more and more musical which is a great part of the fun.
How Training To ‘Play On Our Own’ Also = Training To ‘Play With Other Musicians’
The simplified song arrangements that I create for myself do not require other band members or a backing track in order to sound and feel compete. For the sake of bringing the joy of music to places like the back porch, the back yard and the campfire, arrangements like these are a perfect fit. And, it’s also the perfect way for us to ‘take the training wheels off’ and make sure that we really are learning how to ride properly. In other words, a musician who does their musical practice with backing tracks, and/or live with other band members, is making a very wise choice. However, a musician who also makes certain to develop their ability to ‘stand on their own’ is likely going to have it all!
Avoiding Pitfalls, Distractions & Misleading Ruts
So, the next time you pull out your Martin, Taylor, Yamaha, Etc acoustic guitar or your Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Etc electric guitar, maybe consider the simple joy that is getting ‘back to the basics’ for the kind of ‘fresh start’ that might be just ‘exactly what is needed’!
Lessons For Beginner & Intermediate Level Guitar Players Who Simply Need The Basics
It might be worthwhile to point out that ‘professional guitarists’ are often just players who have gotten ‘quite good at the basics’ - let that sink in for just a moment. So, if you are a complete beginner or an intermediate level guitar player who needs to establish the basics, keep me in mind for your guitar instruction needs.
