This quick read is about how one earthling has become re-inspired, through a fresh start with the Fender Telecaster, to take learning to play the guitar up to the next level - and, how you can get inspired to do the same!

The Telecaster: Rich With History & Yet Still Full Of Energy To Continue Forward!

When Leo Fender, and his team, invented the Fender Telecaster in 1951, electric guitars, music and the world changed forever. Each artist who chooses to pick up a Telecaster [or, T-Style guitar] has the history of music upon their back as well as the great potential for bold new pathways still waiting to be discovered up ahead.

New Inspiration To Play Guitar!

It took me quite a long time to get around to the Telecaster. I spent my early days as a professional musician cutting my teeth mostly behind the the Fender Stratocaster and various Archtop Guitars. But here I am, with Telecaster in hand, experiencing an exciting sense of original inspiration - but this time around everything is very different.

Into The Light!

When I first became inspired to play guitar, I felt like I was almost completely in the dark compared to accomplished musicians who definitely knew something, actually a lot, that I clearly did not. This phase that most of us go through, made it an extra challenge to participate in truly meaningful form of practice. Fast forward to present day, and I feel as though I have finally acquired much of the knowledge and experience one needs in order to make music on, and through, the guitar. This is much different place to learn and practice from - and, I feel like I have a chance to start over again with a renewed sense of musical inspiration!

New Beginning!

So, I find myself now ready to take on a fresh new chapter with country, blues, rock, jazz, and whatever else the Telecaster is ready to take on, which is probably just about anything!

A Set List & More Etudes!

While I have already begun to assemble a personal set list of music that I imagine myself hitting the stage with, once again, the Telecaster’s historic versatility is going to allow me to experiment with and record whatever musical object happens to have my attention for a time, which my regular students know almost always comes with sheet music / guitar tab to have some extra fun with [so, stay tuned to my Telecaster Youtube Channel].

Does It Have To Be A Telecaster?

Now, someone could ask the question, “Does one need to have an actual Telecaster in order to play a such a great variety of music?” And, the simple and direct answer is that you can certainly do the exact same thing on just about any electric or acoustic guitar! It’s all about what we have available to us and/or what instrument happens to inspire us the most!  In other words, definitely 'go for it' with whichever guitar you have available and/or with whichever guitar you prefer to play!

Learning To Play Guitar In 2026 & Beyond!

This is an incredible period of time to learn how to do anything, which certainly includes learning how to play guitar. With the internet, we can quickly get our eyes, ears and hands on guitar tablature, sheet music and incredible demonstrations [mostly for free]! If you are someone, even a complete beginner, who is looking to find an instructor who can help you learn what you are finding online, as well as someone who can help you personalize the learning of ‘musical secrets’, please feel free to talk with me about virtual guitar lessons! I have been teaching for almost 30 years, now, and still love helping people, especially beginners, bring music into their lives!
